Training Program on Financial Cooperatives Assessment Tool

24 April 2017 – Nepal Bankers’ Association in coordination with UNCDF (UNNATI – Access to Finance) organized a one-and-half day residential training program on “Financial Cooperatives Assessment Tool” on 24-25 April, 2017. The tool was developed in-line with the requirement of BFIs to meet wholesale lending and the main purpose of the tool is to support the BFIs in assessing cooperative to undertake credit assessment/rating of Cooperatives to improve the performance of wholesale lending to them and ultimately increase their agriculture portfolio.

Mr. Anil K. Shah, President of NBA provided his opening remarks to start off the program. He said that the efforts made by NBA, UNCDF and M-CRIL team to develop this tool is very praise-worthy and he hoped that this tool would allow banks to easily assess and rate the Cooperatives.

The training brought together representatives from Nepal Rastra Bank, several BFIs, Nepal Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperative Unions Ltd, Wholesale Lending Organizations, Cooperatives, Training Institutes, etc.
