Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) in coordination with the International Finance Cooperation (IFC) organized a webinar on “Credit Reporting in Nepal” where Head of Corporate Banking, SME/Microfinance Banking, Retail Banking and Risk Department of Commercial banks were invited.
NBA President Mr. Anil Kumar Upadhyay, started the session by welcoming all participants with his opening remarks. He thanked the colleagues of NBA and IFC for staring a wonderful collaboration to strengthening the Nepalese Banking Sector. He also mentioned this coordination should be continued to reform the other areas of Banking sectors. He further highlighted the importance of robust Credit Reporting System and requested all to take optimum benefit from this session.
Likewise, Mr. Babacar S. Faye, Resident Representative, IFC also addressed the session and appreciated this joint effort and thanked all the participants for their presence. He added that more areas of collaboration with the stakeholders like NBA could be explored where both parties can work together for the betterment of the banking fraternity.
Mr. Jinchang Lai, Principal Operations Officer, FIG Advisory, Asia and Pacific, IFC presented on ‘Credit Reporting and Lending Market Development’ along with the presentation by Mr. Peter Sheerin, Member of Executive Committee, Business Information Industry Association (BIIA) on ‘Why Lenders Need Positive Credit Information’.
After the presentation, there was a Panel Discussion where the panelists were Ms. Lin Huang, Senior Operations Officer, FIG Advisory, Asia and Pacific, IFC and Mr. Ajaya Bikram Shah, NBA Executive Committee Member and Chief Executive Officer, Laxmi Bank Ltd. shared their thoughts on the subject matter.
Followed by the question and answer session with the participants, the session ended with closing remarks from Mr. Santosh Pandey, Country Officer, IFC.
