Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) held a meeting with the delegates from International Monetary Fund (IMF) – led by Ms. Anne-Marie Gulde-Wolf, Deputy Director, Asia and Pacific Department. The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss on current economic and financial situation of Nepal, regulatory and supervisory perspective, business environment, expectation from the monetary policy, preparations of asset quality review, among others. The discussion revolved around the main challenges that the banking and financial sector is currently facing and the role that needs to be played by the concerned stakeholders to move towards a positive direction.
During the meeting, NBA Advisor Mr. Ashoke SJB Rana, EC Member Mr. Dipak K. De and other officials discussed about Nepal’s current economic and financial position, along with challenges faced by the banking sectors and possible ways to address them. The meeting was very interactive and helpful to understand the IMF’s perspective. It also provided an opportunity for NBA to express concerns faced by the banking industry, along with possible opportunities in the horizon.
