Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) successfully organized a one-day training program titled Enhancing Knowledge on Customs Clearance & HS Code Practices in Nepal. The training brought together trade finance professionals from member banks to strengthen their practical understanding of Nepal’s customs clearance procedures, Harmonized System (HS) code classification and price verification mechanisms; key areas that play a vital role in facilitating international trade, ensuring regulatory compliance and minimizing operational risks.

The program was facilitated by Mr. Gyanendra Raj Dhakal, Director, Department of Customs, who shared his extensive knowledge and practical experience on customs administration and trade-related procedures. Mr. Dhakal highlighted the key areas that banks must pay close attention to while facilitating trade finance transactions. He emphasized the importance of ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting appropriate due diligence on trade documents, verifying the accuracy of HS code classification, understanding customs valuation and price verification practices.
