Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) organized a virtual knowledge-sharing session on “Cybersecurity Challenges, Emerging Risks & Opportunities: A Regional Perspective”, with an objective of enhancing knowledge and awareness among Nepal’s banking and financial sector around evolving cybersecurity landscape and strengthening cyber resilience.
The session was led by Mr. Giridhar Rangavajalla, Chief Information Security Officer, South Asia and India, Standard Chartered Bank, India. During the session, Mr. Rangavajalla provided regional perspective on evolving cyber-risk environment, focusing on the South Asian threat landscape, incident response, third-party security and cyber resilience. The session also highlighted the importance of strengthening preparedness and response mechanisms to manage cybersecurity risks. Particular emphasis was placed on the growing risks associated with third-party vendors and service providers, given the increasing reliance of financial institutions on external technology, digital platforms and interconnected systems. The discussion provided practical perspectives on how banking and financial institutions can better identify, manage and mitigate such risks.
